Your Building Permit will lapse if one of the following occurs:
- The work is not commenced by the required start date as shown on your permit. This is 1 year from the date the permit was issued. Before the Commence by date, we are required to carry out an initial inspection.
- The work is not completed by the completion date as shown on your permit.
You may apply for an extension of time for the project, provided you lodge the application with us before the permit lapses. The fee for an extension of time to the Building Permit completion date is $1,650 inc GST for a maximum period of 12 months.
Extension of time for the Building Permit commencement date will be assessed on a case by case basis.
If you allow the permit to lapse, a new application and application fee will be required in order to renew the permit.
